The Raga Experience | A two-day event exploring and celebrating the Classical Raga Music of North India

SATURDAY MAY 6: The FOUNDATIONS of RAGA MUSIC

WHERE: The Music Conservatory of Westchester, 216 Central Ave, White Plains

Learn how to listen to and appreciate the beauty of Hindustani Classical music in this interactive and dynamic seminar, led by the renowned tabla maestro Samir Chatterjee, sarodist Anirban DasGupta, and vocalist Samarth Nagarkar. Through lecture, demonstration, and guided listening, artists will introduce participants to the three pillars of raga music—rhythm & percussion, vocal music, and instrumental music. The seminar will be moderated by singer-songwriter Swagata Biswas. Open to all and no experience necessary.

SUNDAY May 7: A CONCERT OF RAGA MUSIC

Join us for this very special afternoon concert of Hindustani classical music, featuring vocal, instrumental and percussion performances by stalwart musicians, Samarth Nagarkar, Satyaki Dutta, Dibyarka Chatterjee, Suhail Yusuf Khan and Vikas Yendluri. The program will also include a performance of works arranged by Pandit Samir Chatterjee for Western classical instruments, featuring students of the Music Conservatory of Westchester, under the direction of Nicole Peragine.
