The Joint Sound Shore Chorale and Holy Family Choir Holiday Concert

The Sound Shore Chorale, and The Holy Family Choir, under the baton of Artistic Director Richard Slade, accompanied by pianist Diane Guernsey and organist Heather Hall, will jointly give a Holiday Concert.

The two choruses will collectively sing selections from Pachelbel (Magnificat), Holst (Christmas Day/Choral Fantasy on Old Carols), Giffen (This Advent Moon), Berlioz (The Sheperd’s Farewell) , Handel, and a hebrew melody “lo V’Chayil.” The concert includes two chorus numbers from the Handel oratorio “Judas Maccabeus,” which some view as a jewish alternative to Handel’s Messiah, given its reference to Hanukkah’s main characters, the Maccabees,(especially Judas Maccabee.) The concert will conclude with a sing-a-long of other popular holiday songs, including “Oh Come Oh Yee Faithfull” and “Ochos Candelikos”.
