The Alchemy of Autofiction with Anna Potter via Zoom


This is a one-day, four-hour workshop. Have you ever wanted to write about a life experience but found yourself hamstrung by the truth? Autofiction offers a safe space to explore a slanted truth. In this workshop, we’ll explore passages from authors such as Jenny Offill, Elif Batuman, Sheila Heti, Jeanette Wintereson, and Timothy O’Brien to explore how they use their own life experiences to power their fiction. Then we’ll take what we’ve observed and practice it on the page. Students will have the opportunity to share a piece of writing of their choice for feedback from the instructor and the class.

There are two Altman Persons of Color Scholarships available given on a first come, first served basis to writers of color living in the United States. There is one need-based scholarship for a writer living in the United States. Please register for no more than one free scholarship class per month. Please notify HVWC immediately if your plans change and you will not be able to attend the class so we can give your space to another student.
