Panel Discussion: “Concerned Photography in the 21st Century”

|

The Capa Space is proud to present “Concerned Photography in the 21st Century” an up-close dialogue with voices in contemporary photojournalism led by David E. Little, former Executive Director of the International Center of Photography.

With seating for just 45 people, you’ll be part of an intimate conversation about how Cornell Capa’s legacy of concerned photography guides today’s photojournalists as they navigate unprecedented challenges, from the erosion of press freedom to the digital transformation of news. In our current moment when misinformation spreads faster than truth this conversation couldn’t be more timely. David E. Little will be joined by photojournalists Paola Chapdelaine and Victor Blue.

David E. Little (Moderator) is the Former Executive Director of the Internation- al Center of Photography and recipient of Duke University’s 2025 Distinguished Alumni Award, David brings decades of curatorial insight and a deep under- standing of photography’s power to shape our world.

Paola Chapdelaine is a French photojournalist whose work on American political divides, youth in the digital age, and community violence has appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Guardian, and Politico.

Victor J. Blue is an award-winning photojournalist whose work spans conflict zones from Afghanistan to Guatemala, with images featured in The New Yorker, The New York Times Magazine, and Harper’s

Each photographer will share recent work, followed by a discussion about what it means to practice concerned photography today. You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions and engage directly with photographers who are on the front lines of visual storytelling.

This program is supported by a generous grant from ArtsWestchester made possible by Westchester County government with support of County Executive Kenneth W. Jenkins & the Board of Legislators.
