The Italian Vegetables
Talk and Tasting by Michele Scicolone
Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at 6:30pm
Join Michele Scicolone as she shares some traditional and contemporary Italian recipes for vegetarian and nearly vegetarian dishes from her latest book, The Italian Vegetables. The Italian Vegetables Cookbook is a collection of some of the tastiest vegetable, fruit, and nut recipes that she collected both here and while traveling in Italy. There are classic appetizers like juicy “Stuffed Cremini Mushrooms” and little fritters filled with spinach and melted cheese. Hearty casseroles such as “Sofia’s Eggplant Timballo” or “Baked Bowties with Cauliflower and Cheese” make satisfying main courses, as do savory tarts and pies, such as the “Tomato and Ricotta Crostata.” There are plenty of ideas for side dishes, too, like “Fried Cardoons” and “Crusty Roasted Peppers,” and fruit and nut desserts like “Strawberry Mascarpone Gelato.” After a brief presentation, the program will continue in the kitchen where Michele will demo some recipes for everyone to enjoy. Space is limited. Must register in advance and prepay.
