Take Me to the River Music & Arts Festival

We are pleased to announce the return of one of the best family festivals in the lower Hudson Valley TAKE ME TO THE RIVER MUSIC & ARTS FESTIVAL in Hastings-on Hudson September 10, 2016. This all ages independent, homegrown festival presents an eclectic mix of local, regional and national acts as well as out of the box activities for kids of all ages. This creative community centered festival has garnered the attention of Billboard Magazine who rocketed a band on our community stage to Disney fame in 2013.

2016 headliners on the Lunar Stage are Simone Felice, founding member of internationally acclaimed Catskill Mountain based artists The Felice Brothers, whose early seminal albums remain some of the most influential works of this century’s indie-folk revival. “Dylan and Leonard Cohen are brought to mind, such is the depth of emotion wrought by Felice’s careful approach…Shows the power of music to lift your spirits and make your heart full – absolutely fantastic”  BBC   Simone a gifted songwriter, has recently co-written and produced Bat For Lashes critically acclaimed concept album The Bride, as well as the #1 worldwide hit Cleopatra album by The Lumineers.

Also joining us are rising stars of the Nashville music scene Vandaveer. “ Equal parts folk and pop, towing a line where Nick Drake and Andrew Bird set up shop, Vandaveer tells campfire stories under the guise of crafty, quiet, dynamic torch ballads, beautifully executed and brilliantly captivating.” American Songwriter Magazine

Noted for their exhilarating live shows Holy Ghost Tent Revival hails from Ashville. “Soul-rock horn band that recalls 60s and 70s classic-rock influences such as The Band and The Flying Burrito Brothers, contemporary indie-rock acts like Dr. Dog and New Orleans brass-band jazz.”   NPR

Nozart is a post rock group spearheaded by Noah Kellman a Brooklyn based musician who supported Cold War Kids on keys with Elliot Moss.  His latest effort Just Let It Go made The Deli’s playlist of Best Songs by emerging NYC artists. Another “Deli” favorite, Kami Maltz joins us with her indie folk sound.

New for 2016 is a special Jazz Brunch Hour pairing local Grammy nominated Jazz Saxophonist Tim Armacost and local star saxophonist Gary Smulyan in a quartet paired with farm fresh food offerings and a free mimosa (21 and over).

*Many more bands are joining us – check out the full line up at www.12milesnorth.nyc.

In addition to this stellar line up, Take Me To The River Music & Arts Festival offers internationally acclaimed artists presenting large site-specific installations and a “burning man style” interactive children’s area with yoga slackers, the homespun merry-go-round, skateboard graffiti swings, Zen Tree, wooden VW bus and many more surprises.

Take Me To The River Music & Arts Festival also includes delicious food from the best of the Rivertown’s food trucks and restaurants. We are introducing an inspired craft beer garden this year sure to please the most sophisticated craft beer connoisseur. Local Breweries TBA.
