Takacs String Quartet concert
Our 65th season continues with the third appearance on our series of the world-renowned Takacs Quartet. The New York Times has said that their performances reveal “the familiar as unfamiliar, making the most traditional feel radical once more.” According to the Melbourne (Australia) Age, they demonstrate “intellectual focus and energy, [with] a demonstration of non-theatrical collegiality.” Their program for us will include Franz Joseph Haydn’s String Quartet in D minor, Op. 76, No. 2; Dmitri Shostakovich’s String Quartet in D Major, No. 4, Op. 83; and Felix Mendelssohn’s String Quartet in F minor, Op. 80.
