Sunlight and Shadow: A Musicale of African American Song
Join one of Westchester’s favorite sopranos, Yolanda F. Johnson, and several of her musical colleagues, as they celebrate Black Music Appreciation Month by tracing the history of African American music from its origins in African song to spirituals, from the blues to operatic works like Porgy and Bess and art song compositions by Florence Price and Margaret Bonds. The audience will be carried away to the salons of the Harlem Renaissance by this specially curated concert in the courtyard.
