Sunday Scholars: Neo-Victorian Girls

Dr. Margaret Stetz, Professor of Women’s Studies and Humanities at the University of Delaware, discusses memorable Victorian girls from fiction, including young Jane Eyre, Lewis Carroll’s Alice, and Kate Greenaway’s little girls in fancy dress.

This program complements the Museum’s current exhibition, The Neo-Victorians: Contemporary Artists Revive Gilded-Age Glamour. #HRMNeoVictorians examines the contemporary revival of interest in ornamental lushness and dedication to craft that once defined the style of the Victorian era, with works of art from more than 20 contemporary artists that conceal pointed social commentary beneath seductive surface techniques.

Free with Museum admission.
