Sumi Ink Workshop

Japanese sumi ink painting and calligraphy are two of the foundations of East Asian art. Both techniques rely on subtle, controlled brushwork using special black ink to achieve a delicate balance between inked areas and white background. In this workshop, you’ll learn to produce complex imagery with just a few careful brushstrokes, and also to write your name in Japanese kanji script, a major part of the Japanese writing system.
