The Art Gallery at the Rockefeller State Preserve presents Sonic Heroines featuring works by Lisa D’Amico. The Sonic Heroines series was born from a desire to create artwork that breaks the sound barrier. Every woman has a story worth telling and honoring, but too many women worldwide have been silenced for too long. Through this series, D’Amico challenges the expectations of traditional portraiture and amplifies the voices of remarkable women past and present. These works explore, celebrate, and advocate with strong abstract backgrounds and detailed drawings to spark conversations and promote progress. D’Amico’s artistic mission will continue until all their voices are heard.
