Screening and Filmmaker Q&A: The Gods of Times Square
Shot over six years, Richard Sandler’s documentary, The Gods of Times Square chronicles the radical transformation of New York’s “Crossroads of the World.” As a real estate gold rush swept through, mom-and-pop stores and colorful street characters vanished, replaced by corporate chains. What was once a democratic, interracial common ground, a true “Speaker’s Corner”, became a soulless theme park. The fabled “white way” now belongs to Mickey Mouse and Bugs Bunny, not the free spirits who once called it home.
Join us at The Capa Space on Friday April 3rd at 6:00pm for a screening and Q&A with filmmaker/photographer Richard Sandler.
