Join former residents Cory Brown and Ron Geibel for a weekend of exploring color! Whether you use the wheel, hand build, or both, this workshop is designed to give you different exposure to colored clay. You can expect to learn technical details of working with colored clay, including recipes, how to properly prepare colored clay, and techniques for storage. Our goal is to enable you to expand your ideas, techniques, and color palette through experimentation and fun! Open to intermediate to advanced skill levels.

About the Artists:
Cory Brown –
Hailing from Northern Utah, Cory Brown holds a BFA from Utah State University, and an MFA from Alfred University, New York State College of Ceramics. Cory has been a Resident Artist at the Cub Creek Foundation in Appomattox, VA and at Clay Art Center in Port Chester NY. Cory was the Ceramic Studio Technician for both Bard College at Simon’s Rock in Massachusetts, and the 92nd Street Y in N.Y.C., and Studio Manager at Clay Art Center. Cory spent six months in Pondicherry, India teaching a post-graduate, intensive wheel throwing class at Golden Bridge Pottery. Currently, Cory works full-time doing research and development for AMACO, is adjunct Faculty at NYSCC, and maintains an active studio practice in Alfred, NY.

Ron Geibel – Ron Geibel (b.1985) received a MFA from the University of Montana and a BFA from Edinboro University in Pennsylvania. Geibel has exhibited his work in Canada and throughout the United States including the New York Ceramics and Glass Fair, NYC; Indianapolis Art Center, Indianapolis; Houston Center for Contemporary Craft, Houston; and Manifest Gallery in Cincinnati. He has been an artist in residence at the Clay Art Center in Port Chester, NY; The Chautauqua Institution in Chautauqua, NY; and the Northern Clay Center in Minneapolis, MN. His work is featured in Create Magazine, ArtMaze Magazine, and Ceramics Art and Perception. Currently, he is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Art at Southwestern University in Georgetown, TX.
