The Hudson Valley Singers are a non-audition, local amateur chorus under the direction of Eu Sirotkine. Our singers come from all kinds of backgrounds and have varying degrees of proficiency. Some sight-sing; most do not.
Part of our mission is to promote and enable the performance and enjoyment of classical choral music. Our goal is to provide amateur singers an opportunity to perform in a large chorus under professional conditions, music direction and accompaniment. The group has performed everything from Bach’s St. Matthew’s Passion and Mozart’s Requiem to King Lilly of the Valley and Carmina Burana. We’ve sung in English, German, French, Italian, Latin, Polish, Russian, Yiddish and Portuguese. In addition to many Churches in Westchester the group has performed in St. Paul’s Cathedral and Le Poisson Rouge in Manhattan, The Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, in Costa Rica and Budapest and in Elmsford, NY, at The Captain Lawrence Brewery .
Take a look at these YouTube video ”snippets“ of our last concert, Creation by Haydn:
Our Winter Concert (Solomon by George Frederic Handel) will be performed on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at Concordia College in Bronxville, NY.
Our first rehearsal for the season will be on Wednesday, September 4th, 7:30-10:00 pm at Andrus-on-Hudson in Hastings. It’s an OPEN HOUSE for all prospective members. We will take a look at our new music, learn a little about the piece and then proceed to our traditional first rehearsal reception where refreshments will be served. Our Open House is the perfect opportunity to sing a little, meet Eu and then chat with other members.
