RED FOX FÊTE 2021 Opening Reception
Red Fox Contemporary Art in Pound Ridge, NY presents FÊTE 2021 | a/Muse, opening November 5 with a reception from 6-8pm.
FÊTE 2021 | a/Muse will showcase an extraordinary roster of established and emerging artists from around the globe. The artists resumes include shows and works in collection at; The Brooklyn Museum, Whitney Museum, Telfair/Jepson Center, The Smithsonian, Art Basel, et al.
The show, curated by the Red Fox’s founder, Bernadette Durham, explores the concept of muses, musings and amusement. “After the past 19 months of madness, I wanted to compile and share compelling collection of art, beautiful art, that lifts the spirit and creates a place for reflection and pause for the viewer. A pause away from the madness happening in our world, currently”.
Highlights from the show; reclaimed steel sculptures by Byron Bigelow, an in active gang member, whose mission is to help young people off of inner city streets, end gun violence and spread a message of love and peace. Also included in the show, Michael Ballou’s India ink drawings created using twigs. Ballou’s work has been shown internationally, and most recently, an art incubator, Four Walls, co-founded by the artist, was just placed into permanent collection at The Smithsonian.
Renowned and coveted sculptor, Wendy Klemperer will be installing a whimsical storied collection of her 2-D silhouette sculptures outside of the gallery. There will be fantastic paintings by; acclaimed street artist, Faith 47, Dar James, Allison Meyler, Parisian artist, Delphine Perlstein, an internationally acclaimed, visually impaired artist, Stephen Proski, Suzy Spence and Antoinette Wysocki.
The show introduces a newcomer, David Bank, who is a retired police sergeant from Westchester County. Bank’s took up painting while in lockdown during COVID. The artist’s paintings are musings of his day to day activity, which are beautifully executed subject matters, exhibiting great technique and lots of texture.
Antoinette Wysocki, a local artist, whose work is shown internationally, remarked, “I am pleased to have my paintings included in Fete 2021. For me it is a celebration of artists from different backgrounds, celebrating how we are metamorphosing out of the current climate and navigating into new chapters. From whimsical and beauty to dark and challenging; this show is just what we all need for inspiration- the muse.”
The show will run from November 5, 2021 through to January 15, 2022.
