REBEL Ensemble for Baroque Music | Mozart, Haydn & their Contemporaries
The internationally-acclaimed chamber ensemble, REBEL will offer a program of classical chamber music by Mozart, Haydn and their contemporaries performed on period instruments at the historic and acoustically-excellent Bedford Presbyterian Church in Bedford, NY. The instrumentalists in this program will be Matthias Maute, flute; Jörg-Michael Schwarz, violin; Karen Marie Marmer, viola; John Moran, cello and Dongsok Shin, fortepiano.
A fully-catered reception follows the concert where the audience can meet the artists.

REBEL (pronounced “Re-BEL” and named after French baroque composer Jean-Féry Rebel), a chamber music ensemble specializing in 17th- & 18th-century music performing on period instruments, is arguably the most aired American baroque ensemble on radio today. REBEL was National Public Radio’s ensemble-in-residence in 1999 and has appeared live on NPR’s Performance Today and MPR’s St. Paul Sunday. They have been hailed by The New York Times as “Sophisticated and Beguiling” and praised by the Los Angeles Times for their “astonishingly vital music-making”. The ensemble records for Deutsche Harmonia Mundi , Dorian, ATMA, Naxos and Bridge Records and tours internationally.
