Queen City of the Sound International Jazz Festival

The Global Jazz Community in cooperation with the City of New Rochelle, Department of Planning & Development, BID, and New Rochelle Public Library is proud to launch the inaugural Queen City of the Sound International Jazz Festival.  An exciting 3 days of Jazz music, workshops, food and fun.  Celebrate the stunning beauty and power of this unique, indigenous American art form from September 20 – 22, 2019.

Experience the talent of some of the New York Metro area’s finest musicians on Saturday afternoon at the library and on Library Green. From 12:30 pm – 2:00 pm, the Hiroshi Yamazaki Quartet will heat up the Farmers Market with their cool sounds and fabulous riffs.  In the library’s Ossie Davis Theater, from 1:00 – 3:00, acclaimed percussionist Eli Fountain presents his “Percussion Discussion Extension” – a free demonstration and Master Class for students and adults.  Back out on Library Green, from 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm, the 18-piece New Rochelle Jazz Orchestra co-led by John Backer and David Church will fill Library Green with terrific jazz and swing standards. (In the event of bad weather, this will take place in the Ossie Davis Theater.)
