Professional Development | Art Law: Protecting the Artist’s Legacy


ArtsWestchester invites artists to an informative and practical discussion of the ways to protect an artist’s legacy through advanced planning. The speakers will provide an introduction to wills and artists’ foundations, and highlight issues to take into account. The panel discussion will be followed by a Q&A and wine and cheese networking reception with panelists.

Speakers

Adam Buchwalter, Esq., Wilson Elser

Adam’s practice focuses on all aspects of estate and tax planning and estate administration. He works closely with clients and their advisors to develop and implement strategies to mitigate estate and income taxes and structure business transactions to optimize tax results.

Amy Lehman, Esq., VLA

Amy is the Director of Legal Services at Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, a nonprofit organization that assists low income artists with legal issues related to their art. She is a former performing artist.

Judy Siegel, Esq., Pro Bono Partnership

Judy is a senior staff attorney at Pro Bono Partnership, a nonprofit that provides free transaction legal services to nonprofits throughout New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.

Jana Farmer, Esq., Wilson Elser

Jana is an art lawyer representing art market participants at all stages of the creation, licensing, sale, lending, gifting, merchandising and display of art.

Nisa Lynn Ojalvo, Esq., VP, Legal Affairs, LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, Inc.

Nisa is a corporate transactional lawyer with a specialty in intellectual property. Prior to joining LVHM in 2001, Nisa worked at Millbank Tweed Hadley & McCloy in Hong Kong and at Fuji Television in Japan. She is an internationally published photographer.
