Pound Ridge Authors Society Tenth Anniversary


The Pound Ridge Authors Society Celebrates Their Tenth Anniversary.   Please join us! Come to the April book festival of local authors in fiction, nonfiction, YA and children’s books.  You will enjoy engaging presentations and discussions, wine and cheese, and interact with readers, authors, writers, and the literary community.  Featured authors from PRAS include Bonnie Brodnick, Katherine Dering, Louise Gantress, Christopher Hart and Gloria Koster. 

Bonni Brodnick is the author of My Stroke in the Fast Lane: A Journey to Recovery and Pound Ridge Past, which is now in its second edition. She also wrote the Record-Review’s Pound Ridge “Talk of the Town” column for many years as well as writer/editor of several other national publications.  She is an award-winning communications specialist, and has a blog (bonnibrodnick.com). In addition, Bonni is an ambassador for the American Heart Association and a proud Stroke Survivor.   

Christopher Hart is the author of over 100 books, which have sold 8 million copies and have been translated into 20 languages. Several of his books have held the #1 spot on Bookscan in the art category. His most popular book, The Master Guide to Drawing Anime has sold over 800,000 copies, and achieved the rank of #100 in overall books on Amazon. He has been a cover story on Publisher’s Weekly Magazine. He has also written for Mad Magazine, NBC television, Paramount Pictures, 20th Century Fox, The Showtime Cable Television Network and MGM Pathe’. 

Louise Gantress used her financial experience on Wall Street and her recruitment toTokyo financial markets as background for her novel, Bitter Tea.  As she herself says, “It is not my life, but just an imagined character and her experiences.”  It is a story of ambition, betrayal and reversal.  Louise recently completed a screen play about Thomas Jefferson in Paris has also published articles on travel as well as topical items and conservation.

Katherine Flannery Dering has lived in Bedford for almost forty years. She writes poetry and prose, and has published many poems and essays in literary magazines. Her mixed-genre memoir, Shot in the Head, a Sister’s Memoir a Brother’s Struggle (Bridgeross) deals with her family’s efforts to care for her brother who suffered from schizophrenia. Her poetry chapbook, Aftermath, was published by Finishing Line Press. Her website is www.katherineflannerydering.com, and she is on Facebook as Katherine Flannery Dering, author.

Gloria Koster, a public and a school librarian & long time Pound Ridge resident, is a member of the Children’s Book Committee of the Bank Street College of Education. After retiring from her job of 20 years in New Canaan, Gloria began to devote herself full time to her writing career as a children’s author.  Her many published books include The Peanut-Free CaféMitzi’s Mitzvah & several others including the forthcoming Overdue:The Misadventure of Bob the Book. Gloria also has several series of early nonfiction books written for the educational market. Currently in the works is her picture book biography of Leonard Bernstein.
