Poetry Workshop with Jennifer Franklin

This a 6-week class meeting Fridays 10:45am-1:15pm starting Friday February 21st. Tickets for this class series are $370. Please register at

You have written the first draft of your full-length collection. Now, we need to order all of the poems, decide if there should be sections, revise each of the poems, settle on the title, and most importantly—remove any poems that are not as strong. This series of classes begins at the start of 2020 and goes through the year. A combination of workshopping new and old poems and deep revision, serious critique, deadlines, and mutual support, the goal is to submit to all of the first book prizes and chapbook contests in fall 2020. Participants are encouraged to enroll for every session. New students must email jennifer@writerscenter.org with a synopsis of your manuscript and ten pages of poetry before registering. Class is capped at 9 students.

Jennifer Franklin (AB Brown University, MFA Columbia University School of the Arts) is the author of two full collections, most recently No Small Gift (Four Way Books, 2018). Her poetry has been published widely in print and online including Blackbird, Boston Review, New England Review, Gettysburg Review, Guernica, JAMA, Love’s Executive Order, The Nation, Paris Review, Plume, “poem-a-day” on poets.orgPrairie Schooner, and Sixth Finch. Poems from her new manuscript are forthcoming in American Poetry Review and Barrow Street. www.jenniferfranklinpoet.com
