5:15 pm - 9:00 pm
Drummer Winard Harper is passionate about Jazz.
Inspired by such greats as Clifford Brown, Max Roach, Jackie McLean, Cannonball Adderley, Dr. Billy Taylor, Art Blakey and Billy Higgins, Harper is constantly in reverence of his predecessors while remaining innovative in his own right.
A virtuoso on the drum set as well as the balafon, the West African equivalent of the marimba, Harper has become one of the most celebrated drummers in jazz.
Back in the early ‘90s, Winard Harper was one of the young lions of jazz. Now an established leader, he is nurturing a young crop who make a youthful roar of their own.
Come to PJS to hear Winard Harper and the Jeli Posse!
