Pillow Talk Screening and Discussion

As homage to the recent passing of legendary American actress and singer, Doris Day, Bedford Playhouse WILL screen Pillow Talk as the AUGUST installment for Classic Tuesdays — our rapidly growing and successful juggernaut series offered on the last Tuesday of each month.

On August 27, experience the Academy award-winning musical on the big screen and listen to Pillow Talk’s iconic songs with a state-of-the art sound system. Bedford Playhouse Founder, John Farr will introduce and give a short talk before the film. Following the film John will join guests afterwards for continued conversation at Bambi’s Bar in the Playhouse Cafe.

In the movie, playboy songwriter Brad Allen’s (Rock Hudson) succession of romances annoys his neighbor, interior designer Jan Morrow (Doris Day), who shares a telephone party line with him and hears all his breezy routines. After Jan unsuccessfully lodges a complaint against him, Brad sets about to seduce her in the guise of a sincere and upstanding Texas rancher. When mutual friend Jonathan (Tony Randall) discovers that his best friend is moving in on the girl he desires, however, sparks fly. The first and most successful pairing of leading man Rock Hudson and wholesome singing star Doris Day, Pillow Talk is colorful, lively and clever throughout. Both leads work beautifully together, with surprising comic flair and yes, sexual chemistry. Don’t miss this snappy, wildly entertaining romp!
