Pianist Dmitri Levkovich Opens Sixth Season of The Sanctuary Series

The Sanctuary Series begins its 2018-2019 Season on Sunday afternoon, November 11, with “Studies in Virtuosity” featuring Ukrainian-Canadian pianist Dmitri Levkovich in the Sanctuary of the South Salem Presbyterian Church at 4 PM followed by an artist reception.

Praised for “artistic sophistication far above the ordinary” (Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung), Levkovich continues to captivate audiences across the globe at venues including Carnegie Hall, Theatre des Champs Elysees, the Great Hall of Moscow Conservatory, Beijing’s National Center for the Performing Arts and the Berliner Philharmonie. He returns to open the season with a virtuosic program that includes Haydn, Newman and Liszt and concludes with Chopin, a composer for whom Levkovich has received particular international acclaim as an interpreter and whose work he has recently recorded in Germany.

Now entering its sixth season, The Sanctuary Series remains committed to presenting “extraordinary keyboard recitals in the pastoral setting of northern Westchester’s historic South Salem Hamlet.” The six-concert series will also feature keyboardist Anthony Newman in an all-Bach Holiday performance with brass an timpani (Dec. 16), pianist Peter Serkin (March 17, 2019), the Sonicals Piano Duo featuring George Lopez and Joel A. Martin (April 7), and pianists Andrius Žlabys (April 28) and Ko-Eun Yi (May 12).

South Salem Presbyterian Church is at 111 Spring Street, South Salem, NY, just 4 miles West of the fountain in Ridgefield CT.
