Pathways to Beginning Music Lessons: A Discussion for Parents with Children Ages 3-6
Parents of children ages 3-6 are invited to a special online discussion, Pathways to Beginning Music Lessons, hosted by Hoff-Barthelson Music School on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at 7:30 pm via Zoom.
Led by Dean Christopher Kenniff and Associate Dean April Johnson, this informative session will guide parents through the process of starting their child in private music lessons. Topics will include assessing a child’s readiness, choosing the right instrument, finding the best teacher, and setting the stage for a rewarding musical journey.

About the Hosts
Christopher Kenniff, Dean of Hoff-Barthelson Music School, oversees faculty and programs while also serving as a classical guitar instructor. He works closely with the Associate Dean and Registration Team to ensure students are placed in the right lessons, classes, and ensembles, maintaining strong connections with families and faculty to support student success.
April Johnson, Associate Dean, has been a vital part of Hoff-Barthelson for over 30 years. A dedicated educator, she teaches violin, Suzuki violin, and chamber music and contributes to the school’s curriculum development through her active role in various institutional committees.
