Painting with Fire! Encaustic Works by Richard Coico
“Painting with Fire” and exhibition of encaustic Art Works by Richard Coico
Opening Reception, Sat. July 10th from 5:30 to 8pm
A mixture of beeswax, natural tree sap resin and pigment, encaustic, meaning “to burn in” in Greek, dates back to the 5th century BC.
Using birch panels as his canvas and a blow torch as his brush, artist Richard Coico fuses together layers of color pigment and encaustic medium. The Abstract landscapes, seascapes, and wild botanicals that emerge are not as much “painted” as they are built. The exhibit will be on view from July 10 to August 17th
