Orchestra of St. Luke’s | Summer Season Finale

3:00pm / Join us for a conversation with Xian Zhang.

Please note that, due to health issues, Bernard Labadie has withdrawn from this performance.

Our Summer Season closes with the Orchestra of St. Luke’s in an all-Beethoven program. Canadian pianist Marc-André Hamelin, known worldwide for his unrivaled blend of consummate musicianship and brilliant technique, performs Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 5, a work filled with imperial grandiosity, seemingly fitting its nickname: “Emperor.” Xian Zhang, Music Director of the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra and Principal Guest Conductor of Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, conducts.

For those who prefer a more casual concert environment, Garden Listening tickets are $20, and are free for Members and children under 18 years old. Listen to the concert broadcast onto Friends Field (audio only) while enjoying a picnic, admiring a starry sky, or relaxing with the family. We recommend you bring your own seating for Garden Listening.

Program

All-Beethoven program:
Symphony No. 2 in D Major, Op. 36
Piano Concerto No. 5 in E-flat Major, Op. 73, “Emperor”
