Open Studios with Nathalie Alfonso and Tasche de la Rocha
Join us for open studios with our current Artists in Residence. Peek into their studios, and chat with them about their practices. At 4PM, Tasche will be holding a free live musical performance in her studio space.
Nathalie Alfonso (b. 1987, Bogota, Colombia) lives and works in South Florida. Alfonso holds a master’s in fine arts from Southern Methodist University, Dallas, TX, and a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts from Florida International University, Miami, FL. Unseen work and the exercise of emotional control are central to Alfonso’s practice. The qualities of invisibility and visibility become the foundations from which she develops drawings, installations, performances, and videos.
Tasche de la Rocha is a New Orleans based musician, most recently known as front woman and composer to the eight-piece project “Tasche and the Psychedelic Roses,” which released their debut self-titled album through Sinking City Records in October 2022. Although Tasche has performed over the years under several appellations with a variety of collaborators, she has consistently built a bridge between contemporary and traditional songwriting, recognized by her vocal melodies, multidimensional instrumentation, and live performances.
