Open Studios Weekend: Jessica Segall & Kambui Olujimi

Our resident artists Jessica Segall & Kambui Olujimi are opening their studios to the public for KinoSaito’s first open studios weekend of the 2022 season. Come meet the artists, see their work in progress, and enjoy light refreshments.

KinoSaito Residency Program is a studio + residency program designed to provide artists with the space and time necessary to focus concentrated attention on any part of their practice they feel is ripe for development. The program hosts two artists at a time for six-week sessions during the months of March through November, ensuring that practicing artists, their ideas and their energy will be a constant presence at KinoSaito. Each artist is given a generously proportioned 900 sf studio with large windows and high ceilings, a loft living quarters, a kitchenette, and a private bathroom. Regular open studio events invite visitors to talk with artists and see works-in-progress.

Jessica Segall

Jessica Segall is a multidisciplinary artist based in New York City. Recent exhibitions include The Fries Museum (NL), The National Museum of American Jewish History and Coreana Museum of Art (KR) and screenings at the TED Climate Countdown and COP 26 in Scotland. Jessica received grants from The Pollock Krasner Foundation, New York Foundation for the Arts, New York State Council on the Arts, Art Matters and The Harpo Foundation and attended artist residencies at Skowhegan, MacDowell and Van Eyck Academie. Her work has been featured in Cabinet Magazine, The New York Times and Art in America. She received her BA from Bard College in 2000 and her MFA from Columbia University in 2010.

Kambui Olujimi

Kambui Olujimi is a visual artist, designer and filmmaker, born and raised in Bedford-Stuyvesant Brooklyn. Olujimi’s work challenges established modes of thinking that commonly function as “inevitabilities.” This pursuit takes shape through interdisciplinary bodies of work spanning sculpture, installation, photography, writing, textile, video and performance. His work has been exhibited nationally at Museum of Modern Art, NY, The Sundance Film Festival, and Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, CA. Internationally his work has been featured at Museo Nacional Reina Sofia in Madrid; Kunsthal Rotterdam in the Netherlands; and Para Site in Hong Kong among others. His work has been featured in The New Yorker, The New York Times, Art in America, Vogue and CNN.
