“Okay, Boomer!”: Writing Poetry at Mid-Life (& Beyond) with Joan Kwon Glass (via Zoom)
For those of us who are starting our journey as writers later in life, or focusing on writing more as we age, reading & engaging with other writers our age can be an important part of the process. In this generative class, we will read & write about aging & reflect upon the past with humor, authenticity & earned perspective. What have we learned & what do we not yet understand? What poems are we compelled to write at mid-life & beyond, & how can we incorporate various poetic forms & tools in order to strengthen our voice & craft? This class is open to writers of all experience levels & will include poems & prompts that have not been included by the instructor in previous classes at HVWC. Readings will include work by writers such as Margaret Atwood, Patricia Smith, Lucille Clifton, Melissa Fite Johnson, Courtney LeBlanc, Louise Gluck, Patrick Donnelly, Jared Harel, Andrea Gibson & more.
NB: This class will be taught on Zoom and will be capped at 20 students. Registrants will receive the Zoom link to the email address they use to register. It will arrive immediately after registration so please check your spam folder if you do not receive it. It will also be sent the day before class as a reminder.
