Michael Tilson Thomas conducts the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America, showcasing his mastery of a wide range of repertoire, dedication to mentoring young talent, and commitment to the music of living composers.

Jean-Yves Thibaudet performs Gershwin’s effervescent Piano Concerto—a touchstone work for both soloist and conductor—in a program that includes Sibelius’s heroic Symphony No. 2, as well as the world premiere of a new work by Ted Hearne, commissioned by Carnegie Hall.

NYO-USA is a program of Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute. It brings together the brightest young music players from across the country for intensive programs which are free for all participants. Following a comprehensive audition process and a three-week training residency with leading professional orchestra musicians on the Purchase College campus, these remarkable teenagers embark on a tour to some of the great music capitals of the world, serving as dynamic music ambassadors.
