My Light, My Love
The Westchester Philharmonic’s season continues on Sunday, December 15th, 3:00 pm, at the Purchase Performing Arts Center with My Light, My Love, featuring renowned pianist Orli Shaham, making her Philharmonic debut.
The program includes Poulenc’s Sextet, an irreverent, witty, yet still melodically sentimental work for piano and five wind instruments; Haydn’s Piano Concerto No. 11, at once cheerful and melancholy, in a rarely heard arrangement for piano and string quartet; and Schumann’s Piano Quintet, regarded among the composer’s finest works and a touchstone in the chamber music canon.
The name Orli is Hebrew for “my light,” and Ms. Shaham’s love of these intimately set works are a treat for the ears, heart, and mind. With members of the Westchester Philharmonic, Shaham will play and guide three centuries’ worth of masterpieces, illuminated by her singular passion and virtuosity.
All tickets are $45; half-price for young people ages 6 – 16. Some fees apply.
For tickets and information go to westchesterphil.org, or call the PAC Box Office at 914-251-6200. The box office will open at noon on the day of the performance.
Concert at The Performing Arts Center, Purchase College, 735 Anderson Hill Road, Purchase, New York.
