“Manhattan Seascapes–1970s” Photographs by Robert Gambee


Harrison Council for the Arts presents “Manhattan Seascapes—1970s” by Robert Gambee at the Harrison Public Library, 2 Bruce Avenue, Harrison, NY on view December 2 –January 4; meet the artist December 8 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.

Robert Gambee has been photographing for 50 years, primarily in the United States, but also in Western Europe as well as Asia.  He has published seven books with color photography and three with black and white photography.   

Approximately 1,700 black & white images of New York’s Manhattan Seascapes are in the permanent collections of the following: Smithsonian Institution, National Maritime Historical Society, Museum of the City of New York, New-York Historical Society, New York Public Library, Princeton University Art Museum, Bruce Museum, and The Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center, Vassar College.

Robert Gambee’s photographs have appeared in The New York Times, The Boston Globe, The Washington Post, Boston Magazine, Forbes Magazine, Colonial Homes, VARIA, Nantucket Journal, Cape Cod Life, publications of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and publications of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, the Port of Authority of New York & New Jersey, the Phillips Exeter Academy, and Princeton University.

Robert  Gambee has served as the Official Photographer for the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, Cunard Lines, Phillips Exeter Academy, Scottish Development Authority, and others.

The exhibit may be viewed Mondays and Wednesdays 9:30am to 9:00pm; Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays 9:30am to 5:30pm and Sundays 1:00pm to 5:00pm.  For info call the Library 914-835-0324 or see harrisonpl.org.
