RiverArts presents | Making a Mural for Black Lives Matter – Artist Conversation with Yonkers Arts

8:00-9:30 pm
Event is free but you must register to join
via Zoom

Join us for video tour and a live conversation with Ray Wilcox and Evan Bishop of Yonkers Arts about the organization’s Black Lives Matter Mural. In August of 2020, Yonkers Arts, together with community support, created a Black Lives Matter mural on S. Broadway outside of City Hall in Yonkers.

Hear about the inspiration for the mural, the process of getting the mural approved and created, and the plans for its future. Listen in as Ray and Evan talk about goals for Yonkers Arts, their role in community building through the arts, and what it means to serve a city of 200,000.  At-home audience members will have an opportunity to ask questions in the chat.

Yonkers Arts was founded in 2007 by a group of community leaders from Yonkers who recognized the need for an all encompassing arts organization for a city the size of Yonkers. Under the guidance of these community leaders, Yonkers Arts hopes to promote a collaborative network for artists and community members. Yonkers Arts is dedicated to providing empowering resources to artists and educational resources for community members.
