LUV by Murray Schisgal
When Harry Berlin attempts to jump off a NYC bridge, he is stopped by Milt Manville, an old college buddy whom he barely remembers. Milt, a successful broker on Wall Street (and sometimes bric-a-brac dealer) listens to Harry’s sad tale and comes up with the perfect solution to both their woes, for as it turns out things are not so terrific for Milt either. He wants to marry his new love, Linda, but his neurotic wife Ellen won’t give him a divorce.
This brainy and wildly funny play, by the co-author of Tootsie, pokes serious fun at the 60’s avant garde and gives hilarious new meaning to the old joke, “TAKE MY WIFE, PLEASE!” Luv’s wacky plot twists and outlandish vaudevillian antics have caused critics and audiences alike to dub it a work of true comic art. The Schoolhouse revival of this Broadway smash promises to be a hit!
