LoveYourBrain Virtual Gallery
Welcome to my first virtual exhibit supporting the LoveYourBrain Foundation. I started painting after my concussion in May 2023 – it’s been slow, calm, and therapeutic. My hope is these pieces raise awareness and funds for programs that support people like myself with brain injuries. I hope you find joy in exploring the shapes and patterns, and maybe something will speak to you.
LoveYourBrain has supported me in finding belonging, resilience, and confidence in my voice through art. All exhibition proceeds will go directly to LYB through their fundraising platform.
Why LoveYourBrain?
Each year, over 3 million traumatic brain injuries occur in the US and Canada – that’s one every 11 seconds. TBI is complex and leads to physical, psychosocial, and emotional changes – making it difficult to return to “normal.” On top of that, TBI can be “invisible,” which makes it even more challenging to feel seen, heard, and valued. After leaving the hospital, there are very few resources to support people with TBI and caregivers to thrive in their new lives.
The LoveYourBrain Foundation is a non-profit organization that improves the quality of life of people affected by traumatic brain injury and raises awareness about the importance of brain health. Their programs and research have proven that yoga and mindfulness are powerful practices for supporting resilience, community connection, and wellbeing after TBI. By cultivating self-awareness, compassion, and acceptance, we’re better able to learn and grow from the TBI experience.
