Look Me In My Eyes: An Exhibition by Monique Ford
Bio: Monique Ford was born in Park Slope, Brooklyn in 1981. She grew up in Katonah, NY and received her Bachelor of Fine Arts at Plattsburgh State University, where she studied painting, drawing, photography and women’s studies. Continuing her studies in fine arts, she attended Pratt Institute where she received her Masters of Fine Arts in painting. She has had 11 solo exhibits and been in 50 group shows and exhibited throughout the USA and Greece in galleries such as Ceres Gallery, The Painting Center, Ward Pound Ridge, The Katonah Museum of Art, Art Basel, Ridgefield Artist Guild, Nurture Art, Providence Arts Club, Silvermine Artist Guild, Blueseed Gallery, Yellow Studio, Bethany Arts Community, Arbor Gallery and the Copelouzos Family Art Museum. Monique has won several awards related to her professional career as a painter; these include Best in Show at the Annual Bedford Art Show, Best in Show at the 57th Artists of the Northeast, Teaching Assistantship Award, Pratt In Tuscany Program, The Revington Arthur Award for Painting, Tony Papa Memorial Award, Nina Winkel Scholarship Award. In 2021, Monique’s work was selected to the permanent collection at the Copelouzos Family Art Museum. In fall of 2023, Monique was a part of the small solo exhibition titled “Exposure” at Ceres Gallery in NYC. More recently, Monique has shown her current series of work at Jazz on Main in Mount Kisco, NY in a collaborative exhibition with Julie Rosenberg, titled “Fusion” and has had selected paintings from her abstract and figurative work at the Bedford Historical Society in collaboration with Tambra Collective in Bedford Village. She currently serves as the Chair of Exhibitions on the Katonah Museum Artists’ Association board and resides in Bedford Village, where she paints when she’s not directing a Screen Acting & Production Studio in NYC. Over the course of her career Monique has been dedicated to program quality and equity. She values the holistic process of art making and thrives on collaboration among artists with different areas of expertise.
