Jeffrey Gibson

Love and Lust, Sin and Virtue as conceptualized in Native American Culture

Jeffrey Gibson is a visual artist whose work is drawn deeply from his heritage as a Choctaw-Cherokee Native American. Gibson earned a BFA from the Art Institute of Chicago in 1995, and an MFA from the Royal College of Art, London in 1998. His artworks are in the permanent collections of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian; and the Denver Art Museum. Gibson has recently joined the faculty in the Studio Arts Program at Bard College and is a 2012 TED Foundation Fellow.
