LAURA NYRO, Celebration of her life & music

Join Laura’s brother Jan, and singers Diane Garisto and Kate Ferber for an evening of live music, stories and videos of this Rock & Roll Hall of Fame trailblazer.

Laura Nyro, posthumously inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2012, was a musical genius and trailblazer. Artists such as Elton John, Melissa Manchester, Elvis Costello, Cindy Lauper and Todd Rundgren credit her as an influence and inspiration. She was a singer-songwriter and recorded 11 studio albums, mostly for our very own Clive Davis on Columbia Records. David Geffen was her manager and helped bring her songs to the attention of some of the top recording artists in the 1960’s & 1970’s. Barbra Streisand recorded Stoney End, Time & Love and Flim Flam Man; 3 Dog Night recorded Eli’s Comin’; Blood Sweat & Tears and Peter Paul and Mary had hits with And When I Die; The Fifth Dimension recorded 6 songs, Wedding Bell Blues, Save the Country, Blowin’ Away, Sweet Blindness, Blackpatch and Stoned Soul Picnic. Laura’s songs were recorded by countless other artists and as recently as three years ago, composer/arranger Billy Childs released “Map to the Treasure: ReimagingLaura Nyro”. The album features ten of her songs performed by a long list of stars including Rickie Lee Jones, Shawn Colvin and Alison Krause.
