KMA Creativity Club: Summer Series

KMA Creativity Club: Summer Series
Wednesdays, July 22, 29, August 5, 12, 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Join other creative thinkers and hang out together as we explore new ideas, materials, and techniques in an open-ended environment. Attend individual dates or the full series.

July 22: Architecture and Construction – Investigate the architecture of the KMA building as well as the relocated Barnes structure and start thinking in structural, 3-dimensional, space oriented ways. A great range of construction materials will be on hand to create unique built environments.

July 29: The Inner Imagination – Let your imaginations lead the way like the self-taught artists whose work is currently on view. Paint, pastel and collage will all be incorporated to expand imaginative and dreamlike ideas.

August 5: Something from Nothing – Use discarded materials such as found papers, fabrics and scraps along with our own handmade mark-making materials. Soot, charcoal, coffee grinds, and colorful fruits are the kinds of everyday items that we will experiment with to create our own drawings and imagery.

August 12: Food-Centric Art – Food becomes our subject, inspiration, and medium in this day of food-based art. Use food scrap and packaging for assemblage, create detailed food illustrations, and construct edible art.

Pre-paid registration required. Students ages 8 – 12.$50 members, $60 non-members for each class. Discounts provided for multiple workshops or siblings. Please bring lunch!
