Jewish Writers Poetry Workshop with Sean Singer (via Zoom)
This is a two-day workshop (December 24- December 25, 10AM-6 PM ET via Zoom) for writers who wish to engage with themes of Jewishness— identity, cultural history, Jewish as a religious or racial category, family, exile, diaspora, or ethics—in a time of rising antisemitism.
We will read a range of poets writing about these issues from a variety of literary traditions, not limited to those writing in English.
Objectives:
• Intensive feedback on developmental ideas, drafts, revision, and process
• Detailed notes on your poems that you make in the workshop, or that you bring to the workshop
• Increased confidence about the themes of the course and how to give attention to these from your own perspective
• Focus on a greater literacy of a variety of Jewish poets and poems which will lead to greater capacity to write with clarity about these themes (Jewish identity, exile, intergenerational trauma, and poems from the diaspora in English and other languages)
NB: This class will be taught on Zoom (December 24- December 25, 10AM-6 PM ET) and will be capped at 15 students. Registrants will receive the Zoom link to the email address they use to register. It will arrive immediately after registration so please check your spam folder if you do not receive it. It will also be sent the day before class as a reminder. Please review the course policies page before registering for any classes. Please email misty@writerscenter.org with any questions.
