The 2019-2020 Hoff-Barthelson Music School Master Class Series concludes with internationally renowned pianist Roman Rabinovich on Sunday, April 26, 2020, at 12:00 noon. About the Hoff-Barthelson Music School Master Class Series:

Master class coaching by guest artists has been part of Hoff-Barthelson’s curriculum since the School’s founding in 1944. This distinguished tradition continues this season with a roster of world-class musicians and educators including Nicholas Cords, viola; Colin Jacobsen, violin; Joel Krosnick, cello; members of the New York Philharmonic; Bart Feller, flute; and Roman Rabinovich, piano.

Master classes are an enlightening experience for students and audiences alike. After months of careful preparation, students perform for, and then receive feedback and guidance from a master teacher who challenges the student to think in new and critical ways about the piece they have prepared. The results are inspiring and enlightening and serve as a catalyst for students to reach new heights in their own musical explorations. Yet, the learning isn’t limited just to the students who perform. Any student—regardless of their level of development, or whether or not they even play the same instrument—can learn a great deal.

About Roman Rabinovich

Praised by The New York Times for his “uncommon sensitivity and feeling,” the eloquent young pianist Roman Rabinovich is the winner of the 12th Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition. He has performed in such prestigious venues as Leipzig’s Gewandhaus, London’s Wigmore Hall, the Great Hall of Moscow Conservatory, and Cité de la Musique in Paris.

In 2016 he embarked upon The Haydn Project, presenting recitals of Haydn’s complete keyboard sonatas at the Bath Festival in UK and partial cycles at Scotland’s Lammermuir Festival and ChamberFest Cleveland.

Following his recent Lincoln Center debut recital, The New York Times hailed Mr. Rabinovich’s Haydn Sonatas as “admirable interpretations, performed with a rich, full-blooded sound, singing lines and witty dexterity.” Mr. Rabinovich will perform selections from this repertoire at the School’s 75th Anniversary Benefit, as well as the final movement of Mozart’s jubilant Concerto for Piano and Orchestra in A Major, K. 488, with Hoff-Barthleson’s Festival Orchestra. The Benefit will be held later in the day at 6:30 pm at the SUNY Purchase Performing Arts Center Recital Hall.
