Saturday, November 15, 2014 - Sunday, November 16, 2014
10:00 am - 4:00 pm
This two-day poetry workshop will proceed from the assumption that “deep revision” is more than simply fixing a “problem” in a given poem. Whether the needed revision is large or small, what changes occur in the poem are likely the result of the writer expanding or otherwise altering her or his sense of the expressive possibilities for that poem. In other words, the most important revisions are likely to flow from and reflect developments deep within the writer’s own mind. Our workshop will as a group thus practice developing fresh ideas and new approaches to individual poems and to our poetry in general. To the first meeting, please bring 13 copies of two poems that you believe would benefit from this kind of deep revision. Be prepared to revise work overnight, and to bring the revision (s), and your new thoughts about the work, to the second day’s meeting and discussion.
Saturday and Sunday, 11/15/2014 – 11/16/2014 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
