“In the Quarter of the Negroes” revels in the intense, sophisticated urbanscapes of the great poet and Harlem Renaissance leader Langston Hughes (1902-1967). The concert titled from a recurring phrase in Hughes’s epic poem, Ask Your Mama, features music by John Musto, William Bolcom, Laura Karpman, William Grant Still, Dorothy Rudd Moore, and others setting Hughes texts.
