In Search of Earth’s Secrets

The lobby of the New Rochelle Public Library will be transformed this summer, when a unique, interactive pop-up science exhibit will be available for families to explore and discover! With kiosks, a giant map of the ocean’s floor, and more, the exhibit will bring visitors on a fascinating scientific journey. Learn how scientists on board the JOIDES Resolution, a deep sea research drilling ship, are studying the sea floor’s core! Get a “close up” look at samples from the earth’s core, which have been removed by drilling down through waters as deep as six miles beneath the ocean surface. The kiosks will display some of the scientists’ findings, such as deep sea fossils and underwater volcanos!
