In Conversation with Author Mary Beth Keane

The Harrison Public Library is launching its One Book, One Community (OBOC) reading project during the month of April, which will coincide with National Library Week. This year we have chosen to read the family drama Ask Again, Yes by bestselling author Mary Beth Keane. The highlight of this month-long communal read is “In Conversation with Author Mary Beth Keane” which is being held at the library on Sunday, April 26. Local author Karen Dukess will be speaking with Keane and discussing the inspiration for the novel. A Q&A and Book Signing will follow the interview. The Village Bookstore of Pleasantville will be on site to sell both Ask Again, Yes and The Last Book Party by Karen Dukess.

Ask Again, Yes is a deeply moving novel about two neighboring families in a suburban town, the friendship between their children, a tragedy that reverberates over four decades, the daily intimacies of marriage, and the power of forgiveness. It reveals the way childhood memories change when viewed from the distance of adulthood—villains lose their menace and those who appeared innocent seem less so. This story, while haunted by echoes from the past, is marked by tenderness, generosity, and grace.

We invite the community to broaden and deepen its appreciation of reading and to encourage friends, families, and neighbors to discuss their experiences while reading Ask Again, Yes. The OBOC project will engage the community in a meaningful dialogue and unite the Harrison community together by promoting acceptance and an appreciation of different viewpoints.

Please register for this free program on the library’s website or by phoning (914)-835-0324.
