Illustrated Presentation: “Leading Ladies of Westchester”
The monthly meeting of the New Rochelle League of Women Voters Coffee & Conversation will present a special Women’s History Month program highlighting the great actresses of Westchester.
Beginning with the silent movie stars of the Thanhouser Films Company in New Rochelle (1909 – 1918) and D. W, Griffith’s studios in Mamaroneck (1919- 1924), Westchester has been home to some of America’s finest actresses in film, stage and television. In a digital slide presentation, New Rochelle city historian Barbara Davis highlights the lives and careers of many of these women, and the allure of our Westchester communities.
