Hudson River Views Tour

This tour traverses the lower western portion of the Lyndhurst landscape and takes visitors from the Lyndhurst veranda and its marble garden furniture and fountains down through a series of rockeries offering views of the Hudson River, concluding at the restored 19th-century bowling alley with its exhibit on Helen Gould and Madam C.J. Walker. This tour combines the history of the estate and its residents with some discussion of trees and historic plantings. Departing from the Welcome Center, this requires the ability to walk over the uneven hilly ground for at least one hour and while much of this tour goes downhill on cement pathways, it requires an uphill walk to return to the Welcome Center. It is not recommended for those with mobility issues or children under 12.
