Howard Meyer’s Acting Program — Free Acting Open House on September 12

For adults and youngsters who want to learn about acting classes, Howard Meyer’s Acting Program (“HM Acting”) on Wednesday, September 12, will host a free, no-obligation Open House to introduce tweens, teens and adults to the multi-level acting classes offered through the program. HM Acting is an affiliate of Axial Theatre, a professional theater company.

Participants who are interested can join classes beginning Wednesday, September 19. There is no requirement to sign up for classes at the September 12 Open House.

Open House attendees will have the opportunity to find out about what happens in acting classes, plus meet, mingle and ask questions of acting faculty members. Howard Meyer, the program’s founder, head instructor, will discuss how classes and workshops operate.

HM Acting faculty members Rachel Jones and Catherine Banks will be on hand at the Open House to explain the multiple study options for various age groups and experience levels, which are accommodated in Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced and Master classes. There also are performance workshops, private coaching, and special one-day voice, movement and other acting disciplines that the program offers. Refreshments will be served.

Aspiring actors 10-17 years old should arrive at 5:30 p.m.; those 18 and older should arrive at 7 p.m. The Open House will be held in the Community Room of St. John’s Episcopal Church, 8 Sunnyside Ave., Pleasantville 10570.

Beginner Adult (age 18 up) classes run for six weeks starting Wednesday, September 19. Cost is $245, and there is a 12- week option for $395. Intermediate, Advanced and Master classes are offered by invitation for students with commensurate experience and will begin the week of September 10.

Teen classes (ages 13-17) start Wednesday, Sept 19, and continue for 12 weeks. Cost is $395. Classes for children (ages 10-12) also begin September 19. Cost is $385.
