How Alfo Learned to Love Women

Alfo Idello has an addiction to women. At age 34, Alfo works with a stunning – and single – female psychiatrist to understand why he can’t commit.  What happens when the bakery’s founder, Alfo’s beloved grandfather – who is dead – returns to the bakery to steal wedding cakes?  In the afterlife, Grandpa is stuck in traffic on the Brooklyn Queens Expressway.  To get out of traffic and into heaven, Grandpa needs to teach his grandson how to love.  You see, Alfo’s father will only let his son take over the family business if he is married, while Alfo’s mother is determined to have Alfo’s sister take over the bakery.  Can Grandpa teach Alfo to love and get himself into heaven?  Can a modern woman empower her daughter and defeat her chauvinistic husband?  What happens when Grandpa – as a kind of love ghost – sets up a date with Alfo and his child-hood crush, Gianna?  Can Grandpa’s old world romance help Alfo give up the sugar?

This play will be presented as a staged reading by seven actors.

An Italian wine social and cannoli tasting will follow the performance.
