Houston Person Quintet • Juneteenth Celebration

Juneteenth celebrates freedom and there’s no better musical expression of that liberation than the bluesy jazz sound of the King of the Boss Tenor saxophone, 91-year-old Houston Person.

Supremely soulfully expressive in his seventh decade on the road, Houston’s most recent of the nearly 100 albums bearing his name is Brisket For Breakfast, on which he guest stars with the Joe Alterman Trio. Alterman says of his mentor, “His sound makes me realize how great it is to be alive.”
